Setting up your first workspace in ACP

Purpose

This article guides you through the process of setting up your first workspace in ACP.

Prerequisites

You have login credentials to the ACP administrator portal.

The concept of ACP workspace, its types and characteristics are explained in Cloudentity ACP administrative workspaces.

Workspace setup

Log in

Navigate to the ACP administrator portal and log in with your credentials.

Define the workspace type

In the ACP portal welcome page, select a type of your first workspace from the available templates and click NEXT.

Note

The workspace type defines the type of applications and services to be protected and the configuration of the authentication server.

Add workspace details

Enter the name for your workspace into the Display Name field (1) and select NEXT (5).

Optional settings

  • Modify Workspace ID (2) if you don’t like ID generated automatically from your workspace display name.

  • Change the default grey theme color (3) for your workspace by selecting any other from the palette available.

  • Enable the demo application (4) by selecting the checkbox for this option.

Connect the user pool

To connect the workspace to your users’ identity provider (IDP)

  1. Select one of the IDPs that ACP supports and click NEXT.

    No IDP to be connected?

    If you prefer not to connect IDP at this point but still like to play around, select Cloudentity test account to get a user pool locally. The test account needs no configuration: skip step 2 and go straight to section Create the developer portal.

  2. Configure the connection to IDP by entering requested details and select NEXT to proceed.

Result

Your first workspace is ready. Now you can either Create the developer portal for your workspace and Connect the developer pool or skip these steps and proceed to your new workspace.

Create the developer portal

If you choose to build applications for your workspace, you can create the developer portal for that purpose.

Note

If you don’t want to add the developer portal to your workspace at this point, skip this section by selecting SKIP and proceed to your workspace.

Enter the name for your developer portal into the Display Name field (1) and select NEXT (4).

Optional settings

  • Modify Developer ID (2) if you don’t like ID generated automatically from the display name.

  • Change the default grey theme color (3) for your developer portal by selecting any other from the palette available.

Connect the developer pool

To connect to your developers’ identity provider (IDP)

  1. Select one of the IDPs that ACP supports and click NEXT.

    No IDP to be connected?

    If you prefer not to connect IDP at this point but still like to play around, select Cloudentity test account to get a developer pool locally. The test account needs no configuration: skip step 2 and go straight to your new workspace with the developer portal added.

  2. Configure the connection to IDP by entering requested details and select NEXT to proceed.

Result

You have successfully created your first workspace with the developer portal.

Next steps

There are a few actions that you can take after finalizing your first workspace setup:

  • Enter your new workspace by selecting the workspace card (1).

  • Enter the developer portal by selecting the portal card (2).

  • Configure the workspace or the developer portal by selecting respective meatballs menus (3).

  • Create another workspace by selecting CREATE NEW (4).
